deBridge
DeFi Doesn’t Wait.
Project Score
TLDR
deBridge is a secure cross-chain interoperability protocol on Solana that enables seamless transfer of assets and information between different blockchains. It expands on traditional bridges by allowing generic cross-chain message transfers, letting developers interconnect smart contracts across chains to perform data and transaction calls along with value transfers in a single transaction.
deBridge aims to be the "internet of liquidity" for DeFi, with high-speed bridging powered by the innovative deBridge Liquidity Network (DLN). The protocol offers a suite of products including the deBridge API, Widget, dePort, and IaaS (Interoperability-as-a-Service) to enable easy integration for other projects.
What is deBridge?
deBridge is a cross-chain interoperability protocol built on Solana that drastically expands the concept of traditional blockchain bridges. While most bridges simply allow transfer of assets between chains, deBridge enables generic cross-chain message transfers. This means developers can interconnect any smart contracts across different blockchains to perform transfers of data and transaction calls together with the value transfer, all in the same transaction.
Through deBridge, assets and information can flow seamlessly across the fragmented multi-chain landscape, helping to unify liquidity and enable a new wave of powerful cross-chain applications. The protocol's vision is to serve as the "internet of liquidity" for the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
How deBridge Works
At the core of deBridge is the deBridge Liquidity Network (DLN), an innovative model for cross-chain value transfer without the use of traditional liquidity pools. Instead of swaps, DLN facilitates direct trading between chains using an intent-based approach.
When a user creates an order to move assets from Chain A to Chain B, solvers (entities that provide liquidity) compete to fulfill that order by locking the required assets on Chain B. Once a solver submits proof that the assets are locked, the user's assets on Chain A are released to the solver. This all happens in a matter of seconds.
This design allows for several benefits over pool-based models:
- No risk of impermanent loss or stuck funds for liquidity providers
- Faster settlements since solvers compete to fulfill orders quickly
- Fixed spreads instead of variable AMM pricing
- No slippage due to pool size limitations
For cross-chain messaging, deBridge uses an optimistic verification scheme. When a message is sent from Chain A to Chain B, it's considered unconfirmed until a challenge period passes, during which anyone can dispute the message with a bond. If undisputed, the message is confirmed and can trigger actions on Chain B.
deBridge Products and Services
deBridge API
The deBridge API enables any application to integrate high-speed cross-chain swaps between supported networks. Developers can easily plug deBridge's cross-chain infrastructure into their own apps to enable fast, low-slippage bridging for their users.
deBridge Widget
The deBridge Widget provides an embeddable interface that projects can use to offer seamless cross-chain bridging functionality directly within their app or website. This allows projects to onboard users from any chain frictionlessly.
dePort
dePort is deBridge's solution for secure cross-chain asset custody. With dePort, projects can easily deploy assets to new chains and have them be backed 1:1 by the native asset on the original chain. This enables tokens to expand to new ecosystems safely and efficiently.
deBridge IaaS
deBridge IaaS (Interoperability-as-a-Service) is a turnkey solution that allows any EVM or SVM blockchain to plug into deBridge and gain access to cross-chain messaging, asset transfers, and more. It's a simple way for new chains to bootstrap global interoperability.
deBridge Points
The deBridge Points program rewards users for bridging with deBridge based on volume. Points can be used for perks and will determine the distribution of the upcoming DBR governance token. It's designed to incentivize participation and decentralize ownership of the protocol to the community.
The DBR Token
DBR is the native utility and governance token of the deBridge ecosystem. Token holders can stake DBR to help secure the network and earn rewards. DBR will also be used to vote on protocol upgrades, set system parameters, and fund ecosystem grants through the deBridge DAO.
The initial DBR supply is 1 billion tokens, distributed as follows:
- 25% to the deBridge Points program
- 25% to the deBridge treasury
- 20% to investors
- 15% to the team
- 10% to future fundraising
- 5% to advisors
Security and Audits
Security is paramount for a cross-chain protocol like deBridge. The team has put a major emphasis on battle-testing the system through both internal and external audits.
deBridge's smart contracts have been audited by several leading blockchain security firms:
No major issues were uncovered in any of the audits. The deBridge team also runs an active bug bounty program on Immunefi to encourage responsible disclosure of any vulnerabilities.
The deBridge Team
deBridge was founded in 2021 by a team of experienced blockchain engineers and researchers:
-
Alex Smirnov (Co-founder & CEO): Alex previously co-founded DeBridge Labs, a blockchain development studio. He has been conducting research and development in the cross-chain space since 2018.
-
Gal Stern (Head of BD): Gal is a crypto veteran who has worked with multiple prominent projects including Orbs and Kyber Network. He leads deBridge's business development and partnership efforts.
The project is backed by top investors including Lemniscap, ParaFi Capital, 1kx, Huobi, Animoca Brands, and more.
Roadmap and What's Next
Looking ahead, the deBridge team is focused on expanding the network of supported blockchains, onboarding more integrations and partners, and progressively decentralizing the protocol.
Some key upcoming milestones:
- Launching DBR staking and governance capabilities
- Extending dePort to support NFT bridging
- Building out additional tools for developers and users
- Onboarding more chains to deBridge IaaS
Longer term, the vision is for deBridge to evolve into a fully decentralized, community-driven network powering the seamless flow of assets and information throughout DeFi and web3.
Summary
The protocol leverages an innovative design based on intent-based liquidity provision rather than traditional liquidity pools. This allows for faster, lower-slippage bridging and eliminates the risks associated with pool models.
deBridge offers a suite of products to help other projects integrate cross-chain functionality, including a bridging API, embeddable widget, asset deployment tool, and IaaS solution for bootstrapping cross-chain support. The protocol's native DBR token serves as both a utility token and governance mechanism.
With a strong focus on security and decentralization, deBridge is positioned to play a key role in the multi-chain future by serving as a unifying layer for liquidity and information. As more assets and applications span multiple chains, infrastructure like deBridge will be essential to enable the next wave of innovation in DeFi and beyond.
